Reflection on parts of speech

I learnt the structure of the sentence that it is subject + predicate.
For example, if the sentence is "Nahyeon loves cupcakes", Nahyeon will be the subject and loves cupcakes will be the predicate.

There are 3 sentence types that I learnt. There are simple sentence, compound sentence and complex sentence.
A Simple sentence is very simple. It contains subject and verb.
For example, "Nahyeon likes to eat cupcakes", "I am kicking a soccer ball" and "I am going to Cirebon" will be simple sentences.

A Compound sentence two independent clauses joined by a coordinator. Coordinators are the FANBOYS! For, And, Nor, But, Or, Yet and So.
For example, "Nahyeon rides bicycle and Chiao plays games" and "I hate to read a book and I will not go to library" are compund sentences. It is two separate sentence joined together by "and". If you get rid of that and you can still make two sentences. So you can just look at the sentences without the FANBOYS if it makes sense or not, to look whether the sentence is compound or complex.

A complex sentence contains clause joined by one or more dependent clauses. For example, "Nahyeon likes to eat cupcakes because they are yummy!" will be complex sentence. If you just see " they are yummy!" You do not know what are they

There is a better website that has better explanation that I do, if you would like to view that webstite, please click here.
